Melancholia

After my serie “Common Memories” based on human relationships, I look for a new inspiracion source and found it in the main character in Hamlet’s ouvre: Ophelia.

Desire and tragedy are the most important elements in my new series. We often don’t know the limits of extreme emotions in our lifes.

There’s a fine line between passion, desire, nostalgie, madness and death… Are these acts impulsive or premeditated?

Through the use of materials like leather, steal and wood, I want to show contrasts and dualities like rough and soft, fragile and grotesque,…

With this serie ”Melancholia”, I want to create images that are easy to feel… but maybe difficult to read because everyone has its own interpretation. Everyone has a different (part of) Ophelia inside.
